Terms of Use
By using TextJournal (the app, SMS number, and related services), you agree to these Terms.
1. What TextJournal is
TextJournal is a consumer wellness journaling product. You can text a dedicated number and view history in the iOS app. AI-generated replies are informational journaling prompts inspired by CBT techniques.
2. Not medical care
TextJournal is not a licensed therapy service, medical device, or emergency service. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Always seek qualified professionals for mental health care. In a crisis, call or text 988 (US) or local emergency services immediately.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or older if required where you live) and able to enter a binding agreement. You must provide a valid mobile number you are authorized to use.
4. Accounts & security
You are responsible for your login credentials and for activity on your account. Keep your phone secure. If you lose access to your password, encrypted journal content may be unrecoverable.
5. Subscriptions & trials
- SMS journaling and AI replies require an active subscription or trial.
- Subscriptions are sold as Apple In-App Purchases: $8.99/month (
com.textjournal.monthly) and $69.99/year (com.textjournal.yearly). - Payment is charged to your Apple ID. Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- A server-side free trial may be offered; after it ends, continued SMS/AI access requires a paid subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies.
6. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service (spam, illegal content, attempts to break security, or harm others). We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or create excessive load.
7. AI & content
AI replies can be imperfect or incomplete. You own your journal entries; you grant us a limited license to process them solely to operate the service (including AI providers and SMS delivery).
8. SMS & carriers
Standard carrier messaging rates may apply. Delivery depends on carriers and Twilio. We are not responsible for carrier outages or fees.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TextJournal and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on journaling content or AI replies.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
